WD-40 Repair Challenge: Silencing a Noisy Stand Fan Motor

The stand fan was making a loud squeaky noise while running. I turned off and unplugged the fan before starting the repair. I removed the cover, checked the fan blade and cleaned dust from the motor area. Then I carefully applied a small amount of WD-40 to the motor shaft and bearing area, avoiding the electrical parts.

After a few minutes, I rotated the fan blade by hand to help the product spread. When I tested the fan again, the squeaky noise was much quieter and the fan moved more smoothly. This simple maintenance made the fan usable again and helped avoid throwing it away.
